Clean air shouldn’t stop at the front door: Kendra’s next step in healthy buildings with PROActiv Health

Kendra recently partnered with AtmosAir, a global leader in indoor air quality solutions, marking the next evolution of PROActiv Health – our premium indoor climate solution.

When we talk about clean air, the conversation usually focuses on what’s happening outside. Vehicle emissions, industrial activity and carbon emissions are major priorities for organisations looking to reduce their environmental impact, and rightly so.

But there’s another side to the conversation that’s often overlooked. The average person spends around 90% of their time indoors. Whether we’re at work, in school, shopping, exercising or relaxing at home, the quality of the air inside our buildings has a direct impact on comfort, productivity and wellbeing.

That’s why healthy buildings are becoming an increasingly important focus across every sector. At Kendra, we believe creating healthier buildings means addressing both sides of the equation: reducing emissions outside while improving air quality inside.

What this new partnership means for PROActiv Health

Through our PROActiv Energy and PROActiv Analytics solutions, we’ve spent years helping organisations improve building performance, reduce energy consumption and lower carbon emissions. At the same time, PROActiv Health has helped customers better understand their indoor environments through continuous monitoring of air quality and indoor climate conditions.

This month marks an exciting new chapter. We’ve partnered with AtmosAir, a globally recognised leader in indoor air quality solutions, to enhance the capabilities of PROActiv Health and further strengthen our healthy buildings offering.

AtmosAir is now both a key supplier of the indoor air quality sensor technology used within PROActiv Health and the provider of an advanced air purification technology that forms part of the solution.

Although the partnership is new, AtmosAir’s reputation is well established. Its technologies are used in commercial buildings, healthcare environments and public spaces around the world. In 2025, AtmosAir technology even helped organisations in California maintain indoor air quality during devastating wildfire events.

Most importantly, this partnership allows PROActiv Health to evolve beyond monitoring and reporting alone. By integrating AtmosAir technology across both detection and purification, PROActiv Health now provides a more complete approach to indoor air quality management.

Healthy buildings are about more than energy performance

Truly sustainable smart buildings must support the health and wellbeing of the people inside them.

Today, organisations are placing greater emphasis on occupant experience. How comfortable are people? How productive are they? How can workplaces, schools, healthcare environments and public buildings better support wellbeing? The answers increasingly come back to indoor air quality.

The air we breathe matters

Indoor air can contain a range of pollutants, including dust, pollen, mould spores, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), airborne particles and other contaminants that often go unnoticed.

When indoor environments aren’t properly monitored or managed, these pollutants can affect comfort, concentration and overall wellbeing. Growing awareness around ventilation, airborne contaminants and healthy workplaces has pushed indoor air quality much higher up the agenda.

For building owners and facilities teams, this presents a challenge: you can’t improve what you can’t see. Understanding what’s happening within a building is the first step towards creating healthier environments.

But understanding the problem is only part of the solution. Organisations also need effective ways to address air quality issues once they’ve been identified.

Building a clearer picture of indoor air quality: what PROActiv Health does

Designed to work alongside a Building Energy Management System (BEMS) and smart analytics platforms, PROActiv Health uses AtmosAir’s advanced sensor technology to continuously monitor indoor air quality, tracking airborne particles, chemicals, temperature and humidity in real time.

This data provides valuable insight into how indoor spaces are performing, helping organisations identify trends, investigate potential issues and make informed decisions about ventilation, occupancy and overall building conditions.

Historically, PROActiv Health has enabled customers to identify, monitor and track air quality concerns, providing the intelligence needed to understand what is happening within their buildings and determine the most appropriate course of action. Now, PROActiv Health goes a step further.

From Monitoring to Action

Our partnership with AtmosAir enhances what PROActiv Health can deliver. By integrating both AtmosAir’s sensor technology and air purification technology into PROActiv Health, we’re expanding the solution from one that primarily monitors and reports on indoor air quality to one that can also actively improve it.

Alongside identifying airborne contaminants and changes in environmental conditions, PROActiv Health now incorporates advanced air purification technology that actually reduces airborne particles, pathogens, viruses, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), odours and other pollutants.

Today, PROActiv Health combines accurate real-time detection and alerts, continuous monitoring, intelligent analytics, active air purification and a fantastic support package, all within a single offering.

A more complete approach to healthy buildings

What’s particularly exciting is how closely indoor air quality aligns with the wider work many organisations are already doing around sustainability, energy efficiency and building performance.

Historically, these conversations have often been treated separately. Energy teams focused on carbon reduction, facilities teams on operations, and workplace teams on employee experience. Today, those priorities are becoming increasingly interconnected.

The most successful buildings are judged not only on how efficiently they operate, but on how effectively they support the people who use them.

By helping organisations understand and improve indoor air quality, PROActiv Health supports a more holistic approach to building performance — one that balances energy efficiency, occupant wellbeing and long-term sustainability goals.

Customers can identify issues, understand their causes, monitor performance over time and take proactive steps to improve indoor air quality — all through a single solution.
